Nail Tutorial - Splatter effect

Nail Tutorial - Splatter Effect Nail Art

Lets have fun Splattering!

Inspired by American artist, Jackson Pollock. An influential abstract expression painter well known for his Drip painting.

Lets get it on!

Here's what you need:
  1. A flat plastic base (I use the covers of containers and plastic works best as its easier to clean up)
  2. Nail polish (it all depends on how many colour you want to splatter, best to go more then 3)
  3. Straws (one per colour, cut up long straws to 3inches, it's harder to blow through with long ones)
  4. Nail polish remover
  5. Q-tips
  6. Top coat

Here's How:

Preparation - Have your nails painted , Base Coat / 2 coats of nail polish / Top
                               Coat
Step 1 - prepare your chosen Splatter colours by dripping heaps of nail polish on
                     flat plastic cover
Step 2 - place your straw on top of nail polish and with a scooping motion, scoop
the nail polish up (One colour per straw)
Step 3 - bring the straw to about 2cm above your nail, take a deep breath and
blow out in one hard breath
Step 4 - repeat the steps with 2nd colour
Step 5 - repeat the steps with 3rd colour
Step 6 - you could rotate the colours depending on how much you want a
particular to stand out, try to tilt the straw sideways to create a different
                     splatter effect
Step 7 - dip Q-tip into your nail polish remover
Step 8 - clean out the sides of nail and apply Top Coat

Voilà! Splatter nails done

Extra tips :
  • Don't be scared to go wild with the colours, allow your creativity to flow
