Nail Tutorial - Blue Marble


Blue Marble Nail Art 


Hello Felines!
Let's have fun with The Art of Marbling



The Art of Marbling has been around as early as 12th century. Marbling is a method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other stone. The patterns are the result of colour pigments floated on either plain water or oily water.  (source from Wikipedia.)









Here's what you need: 

  1. Base and Top Coat 
  2. Three shades of blue nail polish
  3. White nail polish
  4. Black nail polish
  5. Nail enamels
  6. Dotting tool
  7. Vaseline 

Ready? Let's start marbling...

  Preparation - Manicure/Clean your nails
                                - Apply base coat
                                - Apply the darkest blue shade nail polish on all fingernails
  Step 1 - Place nail enamels on work station and scoop out a little Vaseline at side
                       - Apply top coat 
  Step 2 - Dip dotting tool into Vaseline and pick up gold enamel
  Step 3 - Attached gold enamel to desire location
                       - Repeat Step 2-3 until u place all gold and silver enamels on bottom of 
                          nail bed, creating a flower like shape
  Step 4 - Repeat Step 2-3 for diamond, aligning it in a straight line
  Step 5 - Apply top coat on entire to ensure nail enamel stays in place
  Step 6&7 - Drop a drop blue nail polish, use all three blue shades
                           - You can place it in straight line or around each other
                           - Place the drops almost touching each other
  Step 8 - Using dotting tool, place dotting tool gently onto any side of your nail 
                         and pull the colours
                      - Place and pull colours a few times to get marble effect
  Step 9 - Place a drop of black and white nail polish on work station
  Step 10 - Using a dotting tool, dip into black nail polish and apply dots onto nails
                         - Dot around circumference of marble effect or follow the direction of 
                           marble effect
  Step 11 - Repeat Step 10 with white nail polish
  Finish off with Top Coat
                      

There you have it, Marble Effect Nail Art

Extra tips:
  • Top coat is use as a 'glue' for nail enamels
  • Vaseline is a good medium for picking up nail enamels
  • The pulling of blue shade nail polish drops has to be done almost immediately, marbling works when nail polish is still wet
  • You could choose the amount of blue shades or you could try marbling other colours
  • The dots are enhancements to the flow/direction of the marble effect you created
